The course will address the following topics:

Section A. Theory of History and Historiography

Topic 1. The Responsibility and Ethical Behaviour of Historians.

Topic 2. The begining of History as a science in the world and in Spain.

Topic 3. The 19th Century Historiography: German Historicism, French Positivism and the beginnings of Criticism to the Academic Historiography.

Topic 4. The 19th Century Historiography in Spain.

Topic 5. The 20th Century Historiography: the Geography, Historical materialism, New Political History and Sociology of History.

Topic 6. The 20th Century Historiography in Spain.

Topic 7. The Crisis of History in the 80s and the Social neo-Darwinism. Recent trends.

Section B. The Writing of History

Topic 8. Book Reviews.

Topic 9. Basic Patterns of Source Citation: Notes-Bibliography Style and Author-Date Style.

Topic 10. General Patterns of History Writing.

Topic 11. The Academic Essays.

Topic 12. The Independent Tought. Plagiarism, Copyrights, Internet and Ethical Academic Behaviour.

Topic 13. The Transcription and the Commentary of   Texts of History. Other Elements of History Writing.

Topic 14. The set up and Display of Works of History.
